Why
We Were Founded Only
Kindness Inc. started out as individual visions that had a commonality
of compassion and preservation. One of our Directors raised an
extraordinary, courageous and joyful little boy in spite of his profound
disabilities. Another Director is a two decade vegetarian convicted that
our inhumanity to animals must stop. Our founder brought these unique
visions together based on her experience living in Africa for seven
years. In Africa, people live much closer to basic survival and
connections that bind us to our environment are vitally clear.
Technology and progress are extraordinary tools, but they have served to
disconnect us from one another and from the land and creatures which
sustain us. Only
Kindness has three characteristics which make us unique. One, we are
committed to a holistic approach. Our conviction to take advantage of
natural connections gives every project depth and continuity that is not
often seen in Western culture. Two, we base our projects, in large part,
on models that already exist, thereby eliminating the need to reinvent,
minimizing unnecessary duplication and maximizing our resources. Three,
as a young organization, we recognize the need for a resourceful Board,
and we draw inspiration from a uniquely diverse and dedicated Board of
Directors whose credentials are varied and supportive. Only
Kindness’ mission to promote opportunities is inclusive of individuals
disadvantaged or with disability and animals in distress. Provision of
such opportunity is achieved through conservation of the environment and
the provision of food, education, recreation and employment.
Ecologically we focus on biodiversity (protecting indigenous
environments by leaving a significant portion of land undeveloped),
organic methods (agriculture without the use of pesticides which yields
natural, whole, untreated produce) and biointensive methods (utilizing
less land for greater yields or “planting close”). In service to
communities, we focus on supporting families by providing respite and
crisis care and unique integrated educational and play opportunities. We
further support communities by providing employment and food and
protecting natural resources.
